The Kurdish human rights organization “Hengaw” spoke of a confrontation with the so-called moral guardians. The trigger would have been a violation of the headscarf requirement. The teenager is in a coma.
However, Iranian media reported that the girl fainted due to low blood pressure and hit her head. There were no clashes with security forces.
If the case involves official violence, it would be reminiscent of the fate of Iranian Kurdish woman Jina Mahsa Amini. The 22-year-old fell into a coma last fall and later died after being arrested by morality police for allegedly violating the Islamic dress code. His case sparked nationwide protests against the Iranian regime.
