Around 5,200 people arrested in Tehran province during anti-government demonstrations that began in September have been released from prison. This was stated by Iranian judiciary spokesman Massoud Setayeshi, quoted by London-based Persian-language television Iran International, adding that this is over 98% of the protesters arrested in the capital and “it seems that which is the same for the rest of the country”. The official did not give the total number of arrests for the protests, while more than 19,500 protesters have been detained since September, according to the agency of Iranian human rights activists Hrana.
