This is the first time since the wave of demonstrations began in September Tehran publishes official figures of deaths that have occurred during the suppression of demonstrations. The Security Council of Will reported this Saturday 2 that “more than 200 people lost their lives” during protests in the country that began in September and said security forces will be more active at each demonstration.
The body linked to the Interior Ministry said the 200 deaths in “terrorist attacks” took place during the riots, with the victims being “armed rioters and counterrevolutionary elements, members of separatist groups”.

This is the first time Iran has announced an official death toll since protests began on September 16.
“As for the protesters, the Islamic Republic of Iran treated them with the utmost tolerance,” but “the enemy’s plan to continue the unrest” did great harm, the note said.
In addition, the ministry warns that the council “will act more decisively” and that “the security forces and the police will, with all their strength and determination, no longer allow some troublemakers, with the support of foreign intelligence services, to endanger the public security of society”.
“Therefore, any disturbance of public order and any illegal assembly, at any level and in any place, will be treated with determination and without tolerance,” the text concludes.

The ministry’s statement comes amid calls for fresh antiregime protests to take place from Monday to Wednesday.
Demonstrations in Iran began on September 16 after the death of Mahsa Amini, 22, of Kurdish origin, while in police custody. She was allegedly arrested for wearing the Islamic headscarf incorrectly.
Foreign NGOs such as Iran Human Rights, based in Oslo, Norway, point out that the death toll from police repression is 448.
In addition, at least 2,000 people have been charged with various crimes, six of whom have been sentenced to death so far.
