Hossein Amirabdollahian states that the two countries have exchanged messages for the past 40 days
Iran’s Foreign Minister Hossein Amirabdollahian said he had informed the United States that his country did not want the war between Israel and Hamas to escalate. However, he said he had warned Washington that the expansion of the regional conflict could be inevitable if attacks on the Gaza Strip continue.
“For the last 40 days, messages have been exchanged between Iran and the US through the US interests section of the Swiss Embassy in Tehran,” Amirabdollahian said, quoted by the Financial Times newspaper. According to him, there is no expectation that representatives of both countries will meet to discuss the conflicts.
“We have said that Iran does not want the war to expand, but given the actions of the US and Israel in the region, any possibility could be considered if the crimes against the people of Gaza and the West Bank are not stopped. “And further conflict may prove inevitable,” the minister explained.
The minister said groups operating in Palestine had “never” called on Iran to enter the war. “They have everything and produce rockets and drones themselves. “Palestinian resistance groups have the capacity to produce needed military equipment in Palestine,” he said.
Amirabdollahian stated that Hezbollah and other similar groups are not forces acting on behalf of Iran. According to the minister, each of these groups has an independent political identity, but “they are not indifferent to the murder of their Muslim and Arab colleagues in Palestine.” .
