“Iran has made progress in its uranium enrichment, but there is no evidence that Tehran has decided to restart its weapons program.”
CIA Director William Burns said in an interview with CBS’ Face the Nation that the United States believes Iran has not yet decided to resume its nuclear weapons program.
“To our knowledge, we do not believe that Iran’s Supreme Leader made the decision to resume the suspended or suspended weapons program in late 2003,” Burns said in the interview, which will air all Sunday.
“But the other two legs of the stool, which are the enrichment programs, have obviously come a long way,” he continued. “They have come a long way to the point where it will only be a matter of weeks before they can become 90% rich if they choose to cross that line.” They have also made advances in their missile systems and their ability to deliver a nuclear weapon,” Burns added.

Mr Burns’ interview comes a week after International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) inspectors first accused Iran of enriching uranium to 84%.
In January, IAEA Director-General Rafael Grossi claimed Iran had “amassed enough material to produce multiple nuclear weapons.” Negotiations to revive a 2015 deal to limit Iran’s nuclear activities in exchange for lifting international sanctions have stalled.
