Iran unveils giant drone it says could be used against Israel

Iranian President Ebrahim Raisi on Monday threatened to punch Israel “in the heart” if Tel Aviv takes the “smallest step” against Tehran. Speaking at a military parade to mark National Army Day, Raisi said that if Iran’s security is threatened by archenemy Israel, its forces will retaliate violently.

“Our message to Israel is that as you seek to normalize relations with countries in the region, you must know that even your smallest moves will not go unnoticed by our intelligence, security and military,” Raisi said at the rally attended by senior military officials attended. “And you should know that if you take even the slightest step against Iran, the fate of the Iranian armed forces would be the heart of Israel,” he added.

Turkey’s staterun Anadolu News Agency reported that the Iranian military displayed a variety of domesticallymade weapons, drones and defense systems during the ceremony at the parade in front of Tehran.

The Kaman22, a longrange strategic drone of the Iranian Air Force capable of carrying various types of cargo with a flight duration of 24 hours, was publicly displayed for the first time. According to Iranian officials, the equipment has a range of more than 3,000 km and can fly at altitudes of up to 8,000 meters.

In addition to the Kaman22, several fighter jets from the Iranian army also carried out flight maneuvers on this occasion.

This year’s National Army Day parade came weeks after Iran’s Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) claimed responsibility for an attack on an Israeli “strategic center” in Erbil, in the Kurdish region of northern Iraq.

Last week, Raisi told Iraqi Foreign Minister Fuad Hussein that Iran was “closely monitoring” Israel’s actions and would not allow them to “endanger the security of the region through any country.”

Israel has been blamed for a series of sabotage attacks on Iran’s key nuclear facilities and the deaths of several Iranian nuclear scientists.
