Baghdad, December 29 (EFE). – The group of pro-Iranian militias “Islamic Resistance in Iraq” announced on Friday that it had launched a new missile attack against a base with a US presence in Syria as part of its operation against US positions in Syria in the east. Half framed in the war in Gaza.
“The Mujahideen of the Islamic Resistance of Iraq attacked the 'Kharab al Jir' occupation base in Syria with rocket fire that reached its target,” the group said in a statement, referring to the facility with an American presence in northeastern Syria.
He reiterated that the attack was part of his “approach of resistance against the American occupying forces in Iraq and the region” and was a “response to the massacres of our people in Gaza by the Zionist entity.”
The Iran-backed Islamic Resistance in Iraq has claimed responsibility for dozens of attacks on US targets in Syria and Iraq since mid-October in response to Washington's “unwavering” support for Israel and in support of the Gaza Strip Islamist group Hamas.
In retaliation for these attacks, the US repeatedly bombed bases of pro-Iranian militias in Iraq.
The latest attack last Tuesday targeted facilities in Iraq used by Hezbollah's Kataib (Brigades) group and other “terrorist” organizations, US Central Command (CENTCOM) said at the time.
Baghdad, a U.S. ally, said the U.S. attack caused the death of one person and injured 18 others and considered it a “hostile, non-constructive act that does not serve common interests,” but condemned the downing of drones and Rockets from pro-Iranian militias against bases with a US military presence in the Arab country.
