There are rumors surrounding San Jose Sharks defenseman Erik Karlsson and the latest rumors involve Toronto Maple Leafs forward William Nylander.
Toronto journalist Howard Berger said on Wednesday that the player’s name had been mentioned before him in a proposed transaction that would allow the Queen City club to get their hands on the recent James Norris Trophy winner.

It’s no secret that Karlsson wants a fresh start with a team striving for top honors, and the Sharks are ready to give him those.
As for Nylander, the 27-year-old Swede will sign a six-year, $6 million-a-year contract in 2023/24. It appears that negotiations for a contract extension with the Leafs’ new management would stall.
The winger is enjoying his best season of his career statistically, recording 40 goals and 47 assists and 87 points in 82 games.
Karlsson also set a new personal record in 2022/23. The 33-year-old veteran has 25 goals in 82 games and provided 76 assists for 101 points. The full-back owns a contract worth $11.5 million a year that runs through the conclusion of the 2026–2027 season.
