Stunned Brits have reported seeing a meteorite fly through the air in the early hours of Saturday.
Footage posted on social media appears to show a shooting star flying across the night sky.
Dozens of posts on X reported seeing the phenomenon in locations across the country, including London, Birmingham, Reading, Norfolk and Shrewsbury.
Some Brits even considered it a sign of good luck before the New Year.
Web journalist Tom Savage saw the meteorite from his home in west London.

“It looked blue and green to me – I thought it might be New Year's fireworks at first, it was spectacular,” he said.
“I'm no expert, but it seemed low and big to me.” “I've seen shooting stars before, but this was very different to that, it was much closer to the ground and much brighter.”
Another viewer wrote: “I was smoking a cigarette out my window and a huge meteorite flew past #London. I’m the only one who saw him.”
A second said: “Oh my god I just saw a shooting star!!”
A third added: “Sat in a parking bay at the top of the A34 S/B…” The sky lit up with what I would describe as fireworks… trail of sparks, very bright and quickly disappeared like lightning heading south … comet?? Low and close shooting star??'
One optimist said, “I just saw my first shooting star.” My God, 2024 will be my year. I receive it in the name of Jesus! Amen.'
