Before we get into the differences with the iPhone 15 Pro, let’s remember the main advances of the 14 Pro. The most striking innovation is undoubtedly the Dynamic Island. This floating notch at the top of the screen allows you to quickly access information. It also houses the front camera module and the TrueDepth camera, which are essential for the operation of Face ID facial recognition.
Apple also introduced the Always-on Display, which ensures constant access to certain information without having to “turn on” the screen. This function was made possible by the LTPO panel, which reduces the refresh rate to 1 Hz when displaying static images, thus optimizing power consumption.
In terms of performance, the iPhone 14 Pro has been equipped with the A16 Bionic SoC, which is engraved in 4 nanometers. This chip, consisting of 6 CPU cores, 5 GPU cores and 16 Neural Engine cores, represented a remarkable advance compared to its predecessors. On the photography side, Apple made a qualitative leap by introducing its 12-megapixel wide-angle camera module replaced a 48-megapixel sensor and introduced “oversampling”.

Apple has refined its camera system on the iPhone 15 Pro. The 48-megapixel main sensor is said to be more powerful than previous models and offer a larger selection of focal lengths. If we compare the purely technical characteristics, the sensors and optics have not developed any further. It will certainly be necessary to look at the software improvements in detail to see any real developments.

However, The iPhone 15 Pro Max is characterized by its 5x telephoto lens, while the Pro model retains its predecessor’s 3x telephoto lens. Apple claims that all three lenses can shoot in Macro, 13mm, 24mm, 28mm, 35mm, 48mm and 77/120mm modes without using digital zoom.
Finally, There is no change to be noted on the battery side : same battery capacity and therefore same expected autonomy.
A big surprise for those who pay attention to the price tags: Apple has revised its prices downwards. In France prices are -5 to -8%, which is a good surprise in this inflationary context.
A relatively clear development
The iPhone 15 Pro represents a relatively significant evolution compared to the iPhone 14 Pro, be it in terms of aesthetics, practical functions or graphics performance. However, neither the display nor the battery benefit from new features. On the photography side, only the iPhone 15 Pro Max benefits from a real change with the introduction of the 5x telephoto lens. Meager, This iPhone 15 Pro does not present any major changes, but welcome developments.
It’s tempting to always choose the latest trend. However, if we take into account the yearly improvements, it is advisable to wait at least two to three years before changing your iPhone. This time frame generally allows for the accumulation of sufficient significant changes to justify the investment. And a final appeal that we should not ignore: let us not neglect environmental and consumer issues.
