Jonathan Toews is said to be giving serious thought to the rest of his career and a recent decision by the agency representing him appears to see him headed straight for retirement.
Several Chicago media outlets reported that the CAA did not include the 35-year veteran’s name on their list of free agents sent to the National Hockey League (NHL). However, the verdict has not yet been officially announced, but several signs seem to point to the end of the Manitoban’s career.

Toews went on a free transfer on July 1 and the Blackhawks announced in April that they had not offered their captain a contract extension since 2008.
The centre-back has lost significant pace in recent years as part of a faltering formation that has begun to rebuild. At a discount, however, he could be of great use to another team, most notably he is rumored to be joining the Edmonton Oilers.
However, Toews has also been held back this year by the long-term effects of COVID-19, which could affect his decision. He had to draw a line under the entire 2020-2021 season to get better.
After playing his 15 seasons in the NHL with the Blackhawks, he accumulated 883 points in 1,067 games, including 31 points in 53 games last season. Toews is also a three-time Stanley Cup winner.
