Twitter was hit by a global outage on Saturday, preventing thousands of users from accessing the social media platform.
Many users have complained that when trying to view or post tweets they get the error message “Cannot get tweets”. Some users have also reported that they see the Rate Limit Exceeded error message.
Users have reported receiving a “rate limit exceeded” message on their “For You” page, a page that typically consists of personal, curated content.
Nearly 4,000 people have complained about issues on the Down Detector website, including the inability to retrieve tweets, missing timelines and disappearing followers.
It is not clear what is causing the problem and how long it will last. The company has not yet commented on this.
This is the third time the platform has faced an outage. On March 6, it was reported that Twitter was experiencing glitches as links stopped working, some users were unable to log in, and others were not loading images.
Similarly, on February 8, it was reported that many Twitter users were unable to Tweet, follow accounts, or access their direct messages due to a series of technical issues on Elon Musk’s own platform.
One social media user wrote on Down Detector: “I joined Twitter in 2009 and since Elon took over I’ve had more issues than I’ve had in all my life. Craziness.”
Even those who have access to the platform have complained about issues.
