SUNDAY NIGHT: The Weeknd and the Swedish House Mafia

This year’s Coachella lineup featured a massive change as it was announced earlier this month that The Weekend, along with Swedish House Mafia, would be replacing Sunday Night’s headliner Kanye West.

The Weeknd and the house music group – comprised of Axwell, Steve Angello and Sebastian Ingrosso – have a working relationship, having worked together on hit track Moth To A Flame and also sharing the same management team SALXCO.

It remains unclear how the headlining gig will work, meaning if they will perform one at a time or if they will shut down, but the publication’s sources said that The Weeknd’s part, given the time constraints of preparing for the show will probably be shorter.

This will also be Swedish House Mafia’s big return to the hugely popular music festival, having not performed there since 2012, having disbanded in 2013 at the absolute peak of their popularity.

The Weeknd first took the Coachella stage in 2012 and then three years later in 2015. He officially headlined the 2018 festival with Beyonce and rapper Eminem.

SATURDAY NIGHT: Billie Eilish

At just 20 years old, Billie Eilish is one of the biggest pop stars on the planet and will be headlining the second day of the hugely popular festival.

She made another appearance at Coachella in 2019 (the last time the festival was held due to COVID-19-related postponements), which wasn’t one of her brightest moments, notably starting her set 40 minutes late and the lyrics forgot her songs and even stumbled on stage.

Speaking to V Magazine last month about the tough experience at one of the biggest stages of her career, Eilish said: “I really resent the things that have surrounded me during this time. I let one person ruin it for me, but that’s ok.’

She didn’t further clarify who that person was, but based on scenes from her 2021 documentary The World’s a Bit Blurred, she could be referring to then-boyfriend Brandon Adams.

Although relatively young, the Los Angeles native is a music industry veteran, having first caught public attention at the age of 13 with her debut single Ocean Eyes.

Along with her older brother and fellow artist FINNEAS, she has grown into one of the biggest acts in the music industry, with multiple chart-topping hits and accolades including seven Grammy Awards, two American Music Awards, two Guinness World Records, three MTV Video Music Awards, three Brit Awards, a Golden Globe Award and even an Academy Award.

FRIDAY NIGHT: Harry Styles

This will be Harry Styles’ first ever appearance at Coachella and it’s a headlining gig.

The 28-year-old boyfriend of Olivia Wilde has had a hugely successful solo career after being part of one of One Direction’s best-selling boy bands of all time.

The British artist’s musical career began as a solo contestant on British reality singing competition show X Factor in 2010 when, after being eliminated, he was brought back to join the singing group.

After the group broke up in 2016, he released a self-titled solo album through Columbia Records, which debuted at number one in the UK and US in 2017.

His second album, titled Fine Line, was released in 2019 and also debuted at the top of the charts, generating the biggest first-week sales by an English male artist in chart history.

Later this year, Styles will be releasing his third full-length album entitled Harry’s House, as he released chart-topping single As It Was earlier this month to spice up the release.
