Israel again carries out airstrikes against targets in the Gaza Strip

In Israel and the Palestinian territories, there is still no end in sight to the days-long escalation of violence. According to eyewitnesses, Israel carried out at least three airstrikes today against targets in the southern Gaza Strip.

According to Israeli sources, 866 rockets have been fired at Israel from the area since Wednesday. For its part, the Palestinian militant organization Islamic Jihad announced yesterday that “the Israeli murders” “will not go unpunished” and that “all options of resistance are on the table”.

The Israeli army has said in recent attacks that it targeted “Islamic Jihad military positions and hidden rocket launchers”.
“We are in a war situation,” an army spokesman said last night.

Egypt fights for peace

According to the Ministry of Health in Gaza, a total of 31 people have been killed since the mutual attacks began four days ago. Among them are not only militant fighters, but also children. 80 other people were injured.

In Israel, one person died yesterday in the city of Rehovot, south of Tel Aviv, when a rocket launched from the Gaza Strip hit the city.

Islamic Jihad, classified by Israel, the EU and the United States as a terrorist organization, has confirmed the loss of a total of five of its leaders in recent days. Meanwhile, there were renewed indications that Egypt was making more efforts to broker a ceasefire between the warring parties.
