Anyone in Singapore displaying or wearing symbols associated with the war between Israel and Hamas could be jailed. This was announced by the Interior Ministry of the Asian city-state, claiming that the conflict was an “emotional issue” that could disrupt national peace.
In a statement, the ministry said Singapore’s laws prohibit the display or wearing of foreign national emblems, including flags. He also warned that promoting terrorism by displaying clothing or accessories bearing the logos of terrorist groups such as Hamas and its military wing, the Al-Qassam Brigades, will not be tolerated. Those violating the law risk a prison sentence of up to six months or a fine of up to 500 Singapore dollars (345 euros), or both, while travelers wearing clothing with banned logos may be refused entry to the city-state.
