For the second night in a row, Israeli police raided the Al-Aqsa Mosque, located in Israeli-occupied East Jerusalem, where they attacked and forcibly evicted Palestinians praying during the holy month of Ramadan . The police threw stun grenades and fired rubber-coated steel projectiles at believers. This Thursday morning, under the protection of the Israeli police, dozens of Israeli settlers entered the courtyards of the Al-Aqsa Mosque. Meanwhile, witnesses claim that Palestinian men under the age of 40 are banned from entering the mosque. In response to the attack, rockets were fired at Israel from the occupied Gaza Strip. Israeli warplanes bombed facilities in Gaza on Wednesday after another rocket was fired in protest at the invasion. Various demonstrations took place in Gaza, Turkey, Jordan and elsewhere. International officials also condemned the Israeli attacks on the Al-Aqsa Mosque and warned of the possibility of further violence due to the coincidence of the Jewish Passover and the Muslim celebration of Ramadan. These were the words of the Palestinian Ambassador to the United Nations, Riyad Mansour.
Riyadh Mansur: “The Israeli occupation authorities have no right to tell people when to pray and when not to.”
