GAZA CITY (TND) – The Israeli military said Friday that it had destroyed an underground tunnel network used by Hamas terrorists.
“The [Israeli Defense Force](IDF) has completed its operational preparations in accordance with the defensive positions of the pause,” the IDF said wrote via X. “This morning our troops destroyed a stretch of underground terrorist tunnels and tunnel shafts in the Shifa Hospital area.”
Video Aerial tunnel destruction shows a large swath of land going up in smoke after an explosion ripped through buildings. The IDF said its forces also attacked Hamas targets across the region ahead of the lull in fighting that began early Friday morning.
“In addition, over the past day, our troops have attacked various terrorist targets from land, air and sea,” the IDF said.

The truth is clear,” Hagari said said. “Hamas uses hospitals for terror.”
An IDF soldier described the danger posed by the tunnels in a video on X.
“This poses a threat to the lives of the people of Gaza and puts everyone in the area in an impossible situation,” she said. “Understanding that this tunnel runs under the hospital and knowing that responders helped deliver medical equipment before you were there.”

The IDF said it discovered the tunnels beneath Al-Shifa Hospital in Gaza City earlier this week. Earlier this month, it was also discovered that a terrorist “command center” was located in the basement of nearby Rantisi Hospital, which the Israeli military cites as evidence that Hamas is using civilians as human shields.
