Israel Hamas: A table with 203 empty chairs set up for Shabbat in tribute to the hostages

On the occasion of Shabbat celebrations, a 203-seat table was set up in Tel Aviv this Friday, October 20, as a tribute to the hostages currently held by Hamas.

A deep thought. Almost two weeks after the Hamas attacks against Israel, the judgments are still looming large in the Jewish state.

On the occasion of Shabbat, a huge table was set up in the Art Museum Square in Tel Aviv this Friday, October 20th. It consists of 203 place settings and empty chairs as a tribute to the Hamas hostages in the Gaza Strip. There are also high chairs for children set up around the simply set table.

The army keeps hope alive

As fighting continues, the Israeli army IDF estimated in a press release this Friday that “the majority of hostages kidnapped by the Islamist group” are “alive.”

“Of the approximately 200 hostages currently in the Gaza Strip, more than 20 are minors, between 10 and 20 of them are over 60 years old, the majority of the hostages are alive,” the Israeli army said.

The Palestinian Hamas in Gaza also claimed to have released an American woman and her daughter “on humanitarian grounds and after mediation from Qatar.”
