The release of the hostages could take place in the coming days and lead to the first break in the conflict that has been going on since October 7, American media added, citing sources familiar with the matter.

According to the agreement, which would be six pages long, all parties would agree to suspend hostilities for at least five days, while 50 hostages would be released at the start of this ceasefire and others would be released in small groups every 24 hours.

This pause would also allow for sustained arrival of humanitarian aid from Egypt through the Rafah border crossing.
