Israel launches airstrikes on Gaza, killing dozens, ministry reports

GAZA, Dec. 3 (Xinhua) — The Hamas-run Health Ministry said Israel launched new air strikes on various areas of the Gaza Strip on Sunday, leaving dozens dead and wounded.

Rescuers and doctors told Xinhua that the Israeli airstrikes targeted an inhabited residential building belonging to the Abu Aita family in Jabalia camp in the north of the strip. In the last few hours, 37 people died and were hospitalized.

On the other hand, an Israeli bomb attack on a home belonging to the Abu Jiyab family in the Abu Eskandar area, north of Gaza City, killed at least three people and injured 20 others, doctors said.

In addition, the Palestinian Civil Defense said that several people were killed and injured in houses destroyed by Israeli warplanes on Yafa Street, east of Gaza City.

Hours earlier, Civil Defense Service spokesman Mahmoud Basal reported that 84 dead had been transferred to Al-Muamalat Hospital in Gaza due to Israeli attacks in recent hours.

Government media office director Ismael Al-Thawabteh told reporters today that more than 700 Palestinians had been killed in Gaza in the past 24 hours. End
