Israel: The flag of the National Assembly at half-mast –

The Quebec flag that flies over the National Assembly will fly at half-mast all day Tuesday in memory of the victims of Hamas in Israel.

“I have asked that the Quebec flag be flown at half-mast tomorrow from morning to evening on the central tower of @Assnatqc in memory of the civilian victims of the terrorist group Hamas’ offensive in Israel,” Prime Minister François Legault announced on his X account on Monday.

“Our thoughts are with the Jewish community of Quebec,” he added.

For her part, the mayor of Montreal announced that the flags in the city hall would be flown at half-mast from Monday.

“The flags at Montreal City Hall are flying at half-mast in memory of the victims of terrorist attacks and violence in Israel,” said the mayor of the metropolis, Valérie Plante, on the social network X.

Over the weekend, Ms. Plante deplored Hamas’ military attack on Israel on Saturday morning. “Let us think of the civilian population who are suffering the tragic consequences of this conflict,” she wrote at the time, adding that she “ [sa] Solidarity with the Israeli and Palestinian populations of Montreal.”

Recall that on Saturday, in the middle of Shabbat, the Palestinian Islamist movement launched a surprise offensive against Israel in the Gaza Strip.
