“We call on the UN to take immediate action against the UNRWA leadership.” Israeli Foreign Minister Israel Katz said this after thanking the United States and Canada for the decision to stop funding UNRWA due to the links of twelve of its employees to Hamas to suspend the October 7 attack.
“We have been warning for years: UNRWA is perpetuating the refugee issue, hindering peace and serving as the civilian arm of Hamas in Gaza.” Katz, who hoped other countries would follow the example of the United States and Canada, stressed that UNRWA “is a price to pay must pay for his actions. UNRWA is not the solution.”
“Israel will ensure that UNRWA is not part of the post-war Gaza Strip,” Israeli Foreign Minister Israel Katz said, adding that he would “work to build” bipartisan support for this policy in the US, EU and other nations around the world to win, aimed at stopping UNRWA activities in Gaza.
Tajani: “Italy also stops funding UNRWA”
“The Italian government has suspended funding for UNRWA following the horrific Hamas attack on Israel on October 7th. Allied countries have recently made the same decision. We are determined to provide humanitarian assistance to the Palestinian population and protect the security of Israel,” Foreign Minister Antonio Tajani announced on X.

Hamas: “UN must not give in to Israel’s blackmail against UNRWA”
“We call on the United Nations and international institutions not to give in to the threats and blackmail of this villainous Nazi entity that is trying to cut off all the lifelines of our people,” Hamas wrote on Telegram, emphasizing “the importance of this role.” We support our aid organizations in providing aid to our people and documenting the crimes of the occupation, which surpass the most horrific crimes known to humanity in our modern times.”
After the USA, Canada also stopped funding UNRWA
Canada has followed the United States in announcing it would temporarily suspend the payment of funds to UNRWA, the UN agency that supports Palestinian refugees, following the scandal surrounding the alleged involvement of some of its employees in last year's Hamas attack in Israel. We read it in the Canadian and international media, including CBC, which quotes Canadian International Development Minister Ahmed Hussen.
The Ottawa government has ordered a “temporary pause” in providing “additional funding” to UNRWA, Hussen said, adding that Canada will not stop helping Palestinian civilians in Gaza.
