The Israeli army has gained control of the western part of Gaza City, according to Israeli Defense Minister Joav Galant. “The next phase has begun,” Galant said today, according to his office.
The Minister of Defense left it open what this phase of the war in Gaza would be like. “The armed forces are acting precisely and decisively.” Soldiers have controlled western Gaza City for the past 24 hours.
Meanwhile, the army made “significant discoveries” in the Gaza Strip’s largest clinic, Galant said. The operation at Al-Shifa Hospital is still ongoing. A military official had previously said the army had found Hamas command and control centers at the clinic.
The army also discovered information and images allegedly showing hostages on computers and other devices at the site, he said. Weapons and intelligence material were also found.
