This Thursday (4) the Israeli Defense Ministry announced a new phase of the war against Hamas in Gaza. Minister Yoav Gallant said the army would focus more on the north of the region and continue to search for terrorist group leaders in the south. Gallant noted that the Gaza Strip would have to be administered by the Palestinian authorities after the war, but stated that they could not pose a threat to Israel.
The war between Hamas and Israel began in the south of the country and in the Gaza Strip and the violence has now reached the West Bank, southern Lebanon and the Red Sea. There are fears that the attacks will spread as Iran and Iraq have also recorded cases of violent attacks.
In Baghdad, a drone strike killed a leader and three militants of the Iranlinked alNujaba'a group. The United States said it carried out an attack on the Iraqi capital but did not provide details of the operation.
The case came a day after an attack in Iran killed around 84 people who were attending a tribute to Qassam Soleimani, the former commander of Iran's Revolutionary Guard who was killed by the United States. The Islamic State claimed responsibility for the attack.
