An 18-year-old Palestinian was seriously injured by gunfire after an Israeli resident of Binyamin shot him following an attempted ambush, Hebrew media sources reported shortly after midnight on Thursday.
The Israeli, a resident of the Ma’ale Levona settlement, was traveling with his family when they encountered a large stone barricade on the road, according to the Binyamin Regional Council.
According to the council, the vehicle, which was reportedly forced to stop due to the barricade, was subsequently pelted with stones by several Palestinian attackers.
Hebrew media reported that the Israeli fired his weapon, hitting the teenager, who was subsequently taken to a hospital in Ramallah with a serious chest injury.

“In such a situation, you acted as every citizen is expected and required to do. You protected the lives of your wife and four children. All respect for the correct behavior in such a situation,” said Council Chairman Israel Gantz.
Media sources reported that the road where the incident occurred was subsequently closed to traffic while Israeli security forces worked to locate the suspected stone throwers.
No injuries were reported among Israelis present.
