Israeli planes attack Syria after firing on the annexed Golan

Israeli warplanes attacked “terrorist infrastructure” in Syria after firing on the Israeli-annexed part of the Golan, the Israeli army said on Sunday.

“Recently, warplanes attacked terrorist infrastructure in Syria in response to the attack on the Golan Heights yesterday (Saturday),” the army said in a brief statement.

On Saturday, it said two projectiles fired from Syria hit uninhabited areas of the Golan Heights and missile warning sirens sounded in the region.

According to her, Israel had already attacked Syria on Friday after a drone coming from Syria crashed on a school in Eilat (southern Israel).

Israel captured part of the Golan from Syria during the 1967 Arab-Israeli War before annexing the area in 1981. This annexation is not recognized by the United Nations.

There were also repeated exchanges of fire on the border between Israel and Lebanon against the background of the war between Israel and the Palestinian Hamas in Gaza.
