Jonathan David, who was struggling with his club Lille in France, scored Canada’s second goal just before the end of the first period. He had not scored in all competitions since September 20th. Jamaica equalized in the 56th minute thanks to Shamar Nicholson.

This is the Canadians’ first victory in Jamaica since 1988.

The clash between the two nations was originally scheduled to take place on Friday evening, but heavy rain in Kingston forced the game to be postponed until Saturday morning.

Remember that the winner of the Nations League will qualify for the Copa America, the South American championship, which will take place from June 20, 2024 to July 16, 2024.

The second leg takes place on Tuesday, this time in Toronto at BMO Field.
