A mother was stunned to find $2.7 million in her lottery account despite not knowing she had won a big prize.
The 36-year-old Michigan resident initially thought it was a mistake.
But when she checked her numbers, there was a match.
Rachel Frye often plays the lottery in hopes of winning, but like most people, the odds had never turned in her favor, at least not to this extent.
“I play Mega Millions online quite often. When I woke up the day after the drawing, I checked my lottery account on my phone. When I saw that I had $2 million left, I thought that wasn’t normal,” she told the Mirror.
“I closed my app and checked my email. When I saw the email from the lottery saying I had won a prize and needed to verify my account, I knew it was true! “I rolled over and started shaking my husband to wake him up. Then I put my phone in his face and yelled for him to check,” she added.
The ticket was purchased online from the state lottery’s website and Ms. Frye was able to collect her prize from Michigan Lottery headquarters the next day.
She wants to use the money to pay off her student loans, create funds for her young children’s college and increase her savings.
“Winning this award is amazing and brings financial comfort to my family,” she said.
