Julia Schiff hit the headlines two years ago when footage surfaced of her being stabbed by co-workers during an initiation prank.
The 23-year-old was sued by eight sergeants for slamming her head into an airplane wing, whipping her butt before throwing her into a pool during a hazing ritual.
Schiff was fired from the Air Force after complaining about the prank, although her military superiors claimed she was expelled for “insufficient military fitness”.
The case of her wrongful dismissal was then referred to Italy’s highest administrative court, but she lost.
Now a cadet from Venice has joined Ukrainian special forces in their fight against the Russian invasion, according to the TV show Le Iene.
Schiff has been in Kyiv since the start of the war and is filming his mission as a mini-documentary for a program of satirical and investigative reporting.

The footage shows Giulia hitting her head on a plane wing months after she enlisted as a trainee in the Italian Air Force.
The so-called “baptism in flight” ended with her being thrown into a pool (pictured) and caused an uproar when footage of it surfaced.

According to Corriere della Sera, Giulia was enrolled as a cadet three months before the hazing incident was filmed in April 2018, after she placed fourth out of nearly 2,000 applicants.
The footage shows her colleagues picking her up and hitting her on the back, and her head is smashed against the wing of the plane, after which she is thrown into the pool.
However, the military academy stated that “pool diving is an old-fashioned activity that traditionally concludes a training course.”
Schiff claims that after complaining about the ritual, she was turned into a “black sheep” before being expelled later in 2018 for alleged indiscipline.
One general said she lacked “the discipline, obedience … and self-sacrifice necessary for a military career,” Italian media reported.
