The drawing of winning tickets for the most famous Italian lottery, Lotteria Italia, traditionally takes place this evening, January 6th. Here you will find everything you need to know: from the prizes to be won, to the timing of the draw, to the mechanism of the program in which the draw is carried out (Your Business, run by Amadeus).
How many tickets were sold and where?
This year, 10 percent more tickets were sold than in 2022: 6.7 million, one for every 10 inhabitants. What time does the draw take place?
Now there is very little left: “Affari Tuoi – Speciale Lotteria Italia” is already running, live on Rai1. The special episode will be hosted by Amadeus at the Teatro delle Vittorie in Rome. How the game works
The evening begins with a “classic” game: It’s about Mario, a competitor from the drawn Molise region.
Only at the end of the game does the lottery game begin, where VIP guests will answer questions about the Italian regions.
And only the ranking of this game determines the order in which the first category prizes are awarded.
But how much do you win?
The prizes to be won are divided into three categories: In the first category there are five prizes with the highest maximum winnings and a main prize of 5 million euros.
Followed by the second of 2.5 million, the third of 2 million, the fourth of 1.5 million and the fifth of 1 million.
There are also 15 second category prizes worth 100,000 euros each
Finally, 190 third category prizes worth 20,000 euros each.
All in addition to daily prizes delivered from October 16th to December 31st, 2023.

What about taxes?
Winnings from the Italian lottery are not subject to tax. “No withholding or tax is levied on winnings of any amount from the Italian lottery,” explains the Customs and Monopolies Authority. “The amounts corresponding to the winning tickets will be credited in full.”
Who won last year?
Last year it was a tobacconist in Bologna who celebrated, while Lazio confirmed itself as the happiest region with three of the five prizes in the first category, ie six-figure prizes.
Unclaimed prizes
The Italian lottery also brings with it an unusual record, namely the unclaimed prizes. In the last twenty years, from 2002, as Agipronews reports, a total of almost 31 million euros have been forgotten. The most striking case comes from 2008, when not even the top prize of 5 million was claimed. The last episode dates back to 2016, although the €2 million prize was never claimed.
