The Italian state is paying 77,468 euros in compensation to the family members of a 32-year-old teacher who died as a result of a reaction to the AstraZeneca corona vaccine. A criminal investigation into the death of the woman, who died of cerebral thrombosis in April 2021, found that the teacher from Genoa succumbed to a reaction to the vaccine.
The coroner’s report shows that the woman’s death was due to vaccine side effects and therefore exonerated the doctors who vaccinated the teacher, Italian media reported on Monday. This is the first death due to a corona vaccine to be compensated by the Italian state.
Death 48 hours after vaccination
Francesca Tuscano died on April 4, 2021 at the San Martino Hospital in Genoa. She had received a dose of the AstraZeneca vaccine approximately 48 hours before her death. A few hours after the vaccination, the 32-year-old man complained of a severe headache. The next morning, his parents found her unconscious. She died two days later.
The Italian government created a fund of 150 million euros to compensate people harmed by the Covid vaccination. In view of the low value of the compensation, the family intends to file a civil action against the Italian State.
