“It’s definitely worth it”

Miley Cyrus announced on Twitter on Friday (April 1) that she has COVID-19, but she has no regrets: “It was definitely worth it.”

The pop star toured Latin America last week, with a concert in Bogota, Colombia and a performance at Lollapalooza Brazil in Sao Paolo.

“When you travel the world, play in front of 100,000 people every night and meet hundreds of fans every day, the chances of getting Covid are pretty high,” Cyrus tweeted. “I have Covid now but it was definitely worth it.”

Cyrus was also scheduled to play at the Asunciónico festival in Paraguay on March 23, but the second day of the event was canceled due to bad weather. The singer was sitting in the front row in this dangerous weather when her plane was struck by lightning en route to the festival. “To my fans and anyone who is concerned after hearing about my flight to Asuncion. Our plane was caught in a big unexpected storm and struck by lightning,” she wrote, along with video of frightening lightning strikes flashing outside the plane’s window. “My crew, band, friends and family, who all traveled with me, are safe after an emergency landing.”

It’s been an emotional week for Cyrus, who is also mourning the unexpected death of Foo Fighters drummer Taylor Hawkins at the age of 50. The drummer was found dead in his hotel room in Bogota, Colombia, ahead of the band’s scheduled performance alongside Cyrus at Lollapalooza Brazil.

On stage at Lolla, Cyrus tearfully remembered her late friend. “We had to do this emergency landing and the first person I called was Taylor because he was already at the festival,” she recalled. “That would have been the time I would have seen my boyfriend and I didn’t, so it makes me really sad. I would have done anything to hang out with him again.”

She then dedicated “Angels Like You,” a rock ballad from her album Plastic Hearts, to Hawkins when a photo of the drummer was visible behind her.
