Zac Morris, American psychologist and content creator on Instagram, went viral on the internet when he shared a video titled “The 7 Reasons I’d Rather Live in Colombia,” the country whose citizenship he eventually received.
But it wasn’t until he recorded a second video, in which he asked various people whether they would rather live in the United States or in Colombia, that he understood why Latin Americans preferred to emigrate from their country of origin.

There he found that most of the people he had asked had answered with the United States, but one had answered with Colombia, which caught his attention and he asked why: to which the young man replied this because of the possibilities.
“It shocked me, but I didn’t understand why. Then I received Colombian citizenship, the greatest honor of my life, but that changed something. Colombia was my paradise, but after becoming a citizen, I started to feel the inequality, corruption, lack of security and the different opportunities.”
Although Zac Morris’ intention when shooting the video for The 7 Reasons Why I’d Rather Live in Colombia was to inspire Colombians to appreciate their country, he managed to get across a deeper issue related to the to think about migration that is so common in the countries of America .Latina.
“I always knew these countries existed in Latin America, but they went from foreign problems to personal problems because now Colombia is my home.”
Therefore, he concluded that the young man who replied that he preferred to live in the United States was a low-income person and had always lived as a person with money.

“I realized that in Colombia I’ve always lived as a rich Colombian and that it’s easy to fall in love in Latin America when you have money and it can be difficult without money,” he said.
Eventually, he reasoned that the title of the video that made him famous must have been, “Why I Prefer Living in Colombia With Money Than Living in the United States”.
The video, which has more than 86,000 “likes” on Instagram, is well received by users who point out the precarious economic situation of many populations in Latin American countries.
