Its far from over – Jacques Martin

“It’s far from over” – Jacques Martin

Despite the difficult start, the Senators can still hope to take part in the next playoffs.

At least that's what Jacques Martin said during an interview with TVA Sports on Saturday before the game against the Pittsburgh Penguins.

“It's far from over. What matters at the moment is making progress in every game. We definitely need wins, but the most important thing for me is to play right. We need to focus on execution and the results will come.”

The one who took over the management of DJ Smith's team believes that there is too much talent in his team not to achieve better results on the ice.

“Firstly, I like the group of young players we have. We have a lot of talent. This is a young group that probably needs to improve our structure and play without the puck. But it is encouraging. “In the last game against the Avalanche, I thought we played with a lot more confidence.”

However, the former Montreal Canadiens pilot believes changes are necessary.

“I have made some changes to our systems. I think it's important that we play more aggressively and try to spend as little time as possible in our defensive zone. You have to proceed step by step. With so many games it’s difficult and there aren’t many training sessions.”

Martin also feels some elements of his training at the moment are in search of confidence.

“We have to make sure that the players regain their confidence so that they can play with a certain amount of assertiveness. They are good players and have a lot of talent, but it is important to make certain changes to play as a team and learn certain concepts.
