Lydia Ko, 25, a Korean-born New Zealand professional golfer, stunned a reporter when she answered a question about why her physical therapist came running during a tournament.
The physical therapist ran onto the field to stretch her back to relieve period cramps during the Palos Verdes Championships in California.
When asked if she expected the treatment to be a recurring problem, Ko replied, “I hope not. It’s the time of the month. I know the ladies watching are probably going, “Yeah, I got you.”
“So when that happens, my back gets really tight and I’m all twisted,” she said.
“It’s not the first time Chris has seen me twisted, but it felt a lot better after he came. So yes, let’s go.’
Golf Channel’s Jerry Foltz, who appeared to have failed to anticipate the reason for the visit to the physio, was slower than usual when asked a follow-up, saying only “thank you” and pointing the mic back at her.
