Its time to take advantage of the holiday offers

It’s time to take advantage of the holiday offers

With the holidays getting even more expensive this year, many of us will also be hunting for bargains at the supermarket. And with these few tips it will probably be easier. Here is part two of the Christmas shopping guide.

Shrimp crowns

There are so many different brands, types of shrimp, and packs of different weights that it’s really difficult to tell if you’re getting a good price by looking at the label. In general, forget about November and the best deals are in December.

To make the comparison easier for you, here are the best holiday offers for 2022:

  • Metro: Large Pacific Shrimp Crown with Sauce (12 ounces) for $8.99
  • Maxi: SeaQuest Shrimp Crown (8 ounces) for $4.88
  • Walmart: Notre Excellence Shrimp Crown with Sauce (16 oz) for $9.97

smoked salmon

We have the same problem here as with shrimp crowns, it’s difficult to spot the good deals. But since the beginning of the year there has been a special blessing almost every month. So there’s a good chance of seeing them again once in November and maybe again in December. Check out the flyers so you don’t miss out when it’s available: IGA has 300g of Vasco & Co Smoked Salmon for $10.99.

Cranberry sauce

Many people’s favorite sauce. Although it may be cheaper to make it yourself, there are usually some great discounts on the canned version in December.

Best price of 2022: $0.97 at Walmart for Ocean Spray 12 oz can.

Combined packaging of veal, beef and pork

Many of you are waiting for these packages with different types of minced meat to prepare your meat pies and pies. These packages are primarily offered seasonally for convenience, but despite some good discounts, big deals are rare. You’ll probably get a better deal if you buy the meat separately. Over the last few weeks we’ve seen great deals on ground beef and pork. Although less common, we have also seen great deals on veal.

If you see these meats at these prices or lower, you’re getting a good deal:

  • Ground pork: $2.99/lb
  • Ground Beef: $3.99/lb
  • Ground Veal: $4.99/lb

A more original menu in 2023?

Sometimes the trick to saving money is to adapt to discounts offered at the grocery store and change your holiday menu. Have you thought about these products?

  • It is often said that the months ending in “bre” are good months for oysters. This is not always true, but it is usually the case in November and December.
  • To save more, replace the smoked salmon with homemade gravlax. It’s easy to make, it keeps well, and fresh salmon is listed in at least one banner almost every week for $8.99/pound.
  • Chocolate fondue is a classic for many families, but have you ever thought about replacing it with cream and sugar fondue? It’s much more economical and just as decadent.
