According to a study published November 1, 2023 in the journal Nature, remnants of a planet could be found beneath Earth’s surface, a remnant of an ancient collision with another star called Theia.

The scientific community “broadly agrees that an ancient planet likely crashed into the then-forming Earth billions of years ago, creating debris that coalesced to form the moon.”
The giant impact theory

Each of these “blobs” is larger than the moon, and their origin has been a mystery since their discovery in the 1980s. Since this impact, Theia has disappeared, leaving behind only gigantic fragments.
