ITV viewers praise “woke” celebrity messages during the National Lottery’s New Year’s Eve big bash

ITV viewers have slammed the channel for airing “woke” celebrity messages during the National Lottery’s New Year’s Eve big bash on Sunday.

Hosted by Alesha Dixon and Jason Manford, the program featured a number of performances from Busted, Take That and Becky Hill.

However, some fans were not happy after a special two-minute clip was played in which various stars spoke about the dangers of climate change.

The video included messages from Idris Elba and Olivia Colman to Hollywood actress Glenn Close in which they spoke about the need for urgent action to save our planet.

Several ITV viewers were less impressed, claiming New Year's Eve was not the time for “woke” news or “lectures” from wealthy celebrities.

A fourth ranted: “Global warming is f**king!!”

Another added: “Oh fuck your preaching about climate change.”

While another agreed: “It's New Year's Eve. Have a day off.'

Elsewhere in the night, Paloma Faith and Becky Hill put on incredible performances as they led the musical guests at the event at OVO Arena Wembley.

Paloma made sure all eyes were on her as she took the stage and pinned her hair up again as she made her debut in a brunette perm.

The 29-year-old “The Better Of Without You” singer looked incredible as she paired the shoes with a matching shirtdress.

She appeared to be in high spirits as she performed in front of an audience of over 10,000 people at the event, which was filmed on December 6th.

Elsewhere Take That performed their iconic song “Never Forget” along with the title track “This Life” from their critically acclaimed 9th studio album.

Gary Barlow, Howard Donald and Mark Owen were smartly dressed as they raised their arms in the air as the crowd sang and danced along.

Jax Jones looked cool in a green fur hat while Calum Scott wore a yellow suit as they put on an energetic show together.

The jam-packed entertainment show also included James Bourne, Matt Willis and Charlie Simpson from English band Busted.

Matt looked handsome in a simple white vest and black suit, teamed with a pair of edgy white and black loafers decorated with lobsters.

Charlie wore a black and white stylish jacket, dark loose pants and sneakers.

James opted for a more casual look despite the cold weather, wearing a blue zip-up fleece, sneakers and a pair of red basketball shorts.

This comes after Shirley Ballas and Charlotte Hawkins stood out from the crowd as they joined a bevy of stars on the red carpet for the Big Bash earlier this month.
