This century is scaring me more and more. Do you feel it? This revolution of “good” against “evil”. Strangely enough, the more I analyze this standard of “good,” the more it takes on the face of dogmatism and the dictatorship of certain discourses.
Either you share my values and my opinions, or I categorize you, I give you the label of the villain. Me on my white horse and you with your horns from hell. No nuance. No gray. Just polarization, division, rejection, even the symbolic and verbal killing of the other.
It is exhausting! No exchange, no communication possible. Worse, they are never happy! No matter what we do, they are never satisfied. Things must be done according to the rigid pattern of her tortured brain. No liquid. Lascivious tango dance? You don't know her.
No dialogue is possible with them. They lie in the righteousness of a single thought. They create new religions and even create entire semantics to give them substance, consistency and legitimacy. They have experts, university researchers – who, like them, lack nuance – who support their “hard-core” theses.
Only causes
The saddest thing about these “heroes” of “good” is that they very often defend just and beautiful causes: the protection of the planet, the animals, the homeless, the fight against racism, discrimination and violence. Do you want some? Here you are.
They are so obsessed with the greatness they ascribe to their cause, or rather with the idea they have of it, that they forget the essential point: Truth does not exist in this universe of complexity. For them to say this is heresy in itself.
However, ignoring can only lead to hatred and the destruction of others. After all, this Other is the representation of EVIL.
Boomerang effect
In the face of these dictators of single-mindedness, we can only raise the standard of counter-discourse, regardless of whether they present just reasons. It gets under your skin, man.
Then if you dare to rebel, they will insult you to better silence you. They are good at creating entire semantics without historical anchoring. They even manage to make you doubt yourself.
“Am I really racist? Homophobic? Machist? Fascist?”
They will even go so far as to ban certain words from your vocabulary.
Then when you realize it, you will feel anger. “Why should I stop saying this or that word? But I’m not racist!”
Very quickly you will find yourself in opposition to the cause you defend with so much enthusiasm and extremism. You will be so disgusted to hear them that you will stop listening to them.
It's the boomerang effect!
A cause without the support of as many people as possible is doomed to disappear little by little.
And it's not vinegar that attracts bees.
