Jack Harlow and Måneskin are retiring from Reading and Leeds Festival to perform in the US

The organizers of the Reading and Leeds Festival are embarrassed after the news that both Jack Harlow and Måneskin have canceled their performances at next week’s celebrations.

American rapper Jack, 24, and the Italian rock band both pulled out of the annual event to perform at the MTV Video Music Awards in New Jersey instead, leaving festival bosses “sad of the decision”.

And while Måneskin made the announcement earlier this month, it wasn’t until Monday night that Jack confirmed he wouldn’t be performing on Sunday.

Both acts were due to perform alongside Megan The Stallion, The Artic Monkeys, The 1975 and Wolf Alice, so organizers struggled to find a last-minute replacement.

A statement from the Leeds and Reading Festival said: “We are saddened to hear that Jack Harlow and Måneskin have decided to perform at an awards ceremony the same weekend that they were confirmed to be playing in Reading and Leeds.”

They added: “We are working on some exciting replacements for Arctic Monkeys, Dave, Bring Me The Horizon, The 1975, Halsey, Megan Thee Stallion, D-Block Europe, Pink Pantheress, Joy Crookes, Fontaines DC, Bastille, Willow, Wolf Alice, Glass Animals, Hybrid Minds and many more at the Reading & Leeds Festivals this August bank holiday weekend, look at this space!’.

Web has contacted representatives from Jack Harlow, Måneskin and Reading and the Leeds Festival for further comment.

Italian band Måneskin released a statement earlier this month, writing: “We regret to inform you that due to unforeseen scheduling conflicts we are unfortunately unable to perform at Readings & Leeds Festival this year.

“We love and miss the UK and all our beloved British fans and we are absolutely disappointed not to be able to play these shows anymore.”

They concluded by saying: “We are really looking forward to the year ahead and want to thank you for your support and patience. We hope to be back in the UK soon and can’t wait to see you.”

It comes after fans were outraged by festival headliners Rage Against The Machine when they said they would not be performing either.

The band said they would not attend the festival as planned as they canceled their 2022 tour dates citing medical advice. This includes her planned appearance at the Leeds Festival.

Rage Against The Machine, known for their songs Killing In the Name and Bulls on Parade, is replaced by pop band The 1975.

Lead singer Zack de la Rocha said he will be resting at home after the group performed at Madison Square Garden in New York on August 14.

Fans have expressed their frustration at the cancellation of Reading Festival, with some demanding a refund.

One wrote on Twitter: “Replacing Rage Against The Machine with 1975 is like replacing Slayer with S Club 7.”

Another suggested a large number of festival tickets would be refunded as a result of the news, saying: “There are hundreds of disappointed RATM fans up for sale.”

One fan expressed his disappointment by adding: “Boooooo”

A festival-goer wrote a message to Ticketmaster asking for a refund after the band’s cancellation. They said: “I have a Sunday ticket to Reading Festival and would like to request a refund as main headliner Rage Against The Machine has canceled and will not be performing. I would appreciate some help.’
