Jack Hughes rediscovers his goal instincts

Jack Hughes had been knocking on the door since returning to the game but nothing was working for him. However, the New Jersey Devils' offensive star returned to his good habits with two points in a 3-1 win over the Seattle Kraken on Monday night at Prudential Center.

The American was involved in Tyler Toffoli's 22nd win of the season in the first third before he scored the goal himself after just 48 seconds in the second period.

Hughes scored a beautiful goal by shooting against Joey Daccord's helmet and redirecting the puck into the net. The Kraken goalkeeper saw nothing but fire and it was 2-0.

Like on Saturday against the Carolina Hurricanes, the 22-year-old forward fired seven shots. He previously missed 11 games with an upper-body injury.

Dawson Mercer tripled the Devils' lead before the end of the period. Will Borgen prevented Nico Daws from getting a shutout by shaking the ropes midway through the third period. The German blocked 27 pucks and secured his fourth win of the season.

The Kraken suffered their third straight loss and won't have much time to recover as they travel to the New York Islanders on Tuesday.
