The New Jersey Devils could receive excellent news about their star Jack Hughes in the coming days.

The Newark-based team wouldn’t rule out the center playing against the Pittsburgh Penguins on Thursday, but it’s actually the weekend game circled on the calendar.
Injury updates I just reported on The Point….
The Devils didn’t want to rule out Jack Hughes for Thursday’s game against the Penguins, but there’s a good chance he’ll return Saturday at home against the New York Rangers. Knowing what a competitor Hughes is, he is fighting to come back for this rivalry game.

As a reminder, Hughes has been out since November 3 with an upper-body injury after falling against the boards during the matchup against the St. Louis Blues. Since being sidelined, the Devils have struggled greatly, going 1-3-0 in four games.
This season, No. 86 has five goals and 15 assists for 20 points in 10 games.
