DETROIT – What a day for Michigan’s very own Jack White! First he released a new album. He then performed the national anthem on the opening day of the Detroit Tigers game, as seen in the video above. After all, he not only proposed to his girlfriend onstage during his homecoming concert tonight, he married her right there. The marriage was confirmed to MLive by his publicist.
According to journalists Gary Graff of the Oakland Press and Adam Graham of the Detroit News, who were both in the audience at tonight’s concert at Detroit’s Masonic Temple, White proposed to his girlfriend during the song “Hotel Yorba” at the end of his main set before he she marries at the beginning of the encore.
“Jack White just proposed to his girlfriend Olivia Jean onstage at the Masonic Temple during the opening night of his Supply Chain Issues tour.” Graham wrote on Twitter. “He did it during Hotel Yorba. She said yes, and he rolled right into the “let’s get married” line. The crowd went mad.”
the Added Detroit News to Twitter that “the quickie ceremony was attended by Jack’s mother, Olivia’s father and a sold-out, roaring crowd from Detroit.”
One fan put it into perspective by tweeting: “Welp I went to a Jack White concert and I ended up watching him propose AND get married to his girlfriend Olivia Jean. I was literally at Jack White’s wedding. Unreal.”
White is a graduate of Cass Tech High School in Detroit. Jean is also a singer/songwriter and hails from Detroit. White, who is a 12-time Grammy winner, also has concerts scheduled for tomorrow night at the Masonic Temple in Detroit and this Sunday at the Van Andel Arena in Grand Rapids.
