Their “California Love” was never meant to last.
Jada Pinkett Smith, 52, has been raving about her late pal Tupac Shakur lately — but not in the way you’d expect.
The “Girls Trip” actress admitted to Rolling Loud’s Christal Jordan on Thursday that the two were “soulmates,” but also spoke about the relationship between her and the “Dear Mama” rapper, who was murdered on Sept. 13. clearly the necessary spark was missing, 1996.
“We have soulmates – our children can be our soulmates,” Pinkett Smith said when asked if she would use the term to describe Pac – as he had apparently previously described her. “There are all kinds of definitions of soulmate.”
During the candid conversation, the “Magic Mike” star admitted that although the couple had “those romantic moments” together, it never felt right.

“I wish I could make people understand it,” Pinkett Smith said of the duo’s non-existent spark. “And I know it’s so hard [to believe] but it wasn’t just me. He was too.”
“It was almost as if God created us this way. It’s like, “Look, let’s get you all together, okay?” You’re all going to be a dynamic duo, but I’m telling you right now: I’m going to make sure you don’t get together because that just wasn’t the purpose.” she explained.
Pinkett Smith, who is currently out promoting her upcoming memoir Worthy, admitted with a laugh, “If there is such a thing as past lives, I definitely think Pac and I have traveled through some of them together in various forms. “

Police recently charged Duane “Keefe D” Davis, a former confidant of the late rapper, with Shakur’s murder – nearly 20 years after a shooting on the Las Vegas Strip claimed Pac’s life.
The couple became friends while attending the Baltimore School for the Arts together. Pinkett Smith also appeared in his “Keep Ya Head Up” and “Temptations” music videos. When Shakur was convicted of sexual abuse in 1994, she posted $100,000 bail.
Pinkett Smith and the “Hit ‘Em Up” rapper had a close friendship for many years. She previously revealed that she met Pac when she was still a drug dealer.

She also honored him on his birthday in 2021 with an unprecedented poem.
Pinkett has been married to The Fresh Prince of Bel-Air star Will Smith for 19 years. However, he recently revealed that the two have been living apart for seven years, including during his infamous slap at the Oscars.
