Jada Pinkett Smith continues to give interviews to reveal her best-kept secrets. After confessing that she had been separated from Will Smith for seven years, not legally but “de facto”, the actress now wanted to delve deeper into her conflicted relationship with comedian Chris Rock. The slap that the protagonist of “The Fresh Prince of Bel Air” gave the comedian at the 2022 Oscar Gala after his joke about the artist’s alopecia is already part of television history: But Jada believes it is necessary to tell the whole story .
In fact, the interpreter confirmed one of the theories circulating at the time about the cruel joke. Apparently, the hostility that Chris Rock felt towards her, which had previously manifested itself in other taunts, was nothing more than the result of an unrequited love interest. So much so that Jada now claims that the artist even asked her out, taking advantage of the fact that their marriage was supposedly in crisis.
“Every summer the news came that Will and I were getting a divorce. And this summer, Chris really thought we were getting a divorce,” the star told People magazine in a preview of the explosive book of memoirs that is about to be published. “So [Chris] He called me and basically said, “I’d like to go out with you.” I said, “What do you mean?” And he said, “Well, isn’t it true that they’re going to get a divorce?” He’s done with that recreated the phone conversation they had, which he did not specify when it took place.

According to Jada, Chris quickly apologized for his audacity. “I told him, ‘No, Chris, they’re just rumors.’ He was devastated and apologized profusely,” he added in their conversation. From that moment on, his friendship with the comedian cooled until they eventually lost touch. “I haven’t spoken to him anymore… Do I even feel like it? Look, this is my wish: I just want the misunderstandings on this issue to be cleared up so that there can be peace again,” he tells Jada.
