Jair Bolsonaro and Lula da Silva close the election campaign the day before the elections

MADRID, Oct 2 (EUROPA PRESS) –

The two main candidates for the presidency of Brazil, current President Jair Bolsonaro and former Vice President Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva, ended the election campaign this Saturday in the streets of Sao Paulo, a day before the first round of The elections.

According to the newspaper “Brasil de Fato”, Da Silva, the favorite according to the latest polls, drove down Augusta Street in a truck surrounded by his supporters and accompanied by the candidate for the Sao Paulo state government, Fernando Haddad.

Various flags from the LGTBI collective as well as various unions were seen at the event, although Labor Party flags were seen at the scene, which was also attended by feminist and black activist groups.

For his part, Bolsonaro concluded the pre-campaign by taking part in a motorcycle rally in the Campo de Bagatelle square, after which he took photos with his supporters together with the gubernatorial candidate Tacísio de Freitas.

Local media reported that the President was carrying a bag with a picture of opposition leader Da Silva appearing behind bars, to which his supporters responded with chants declaring, “Lula thief, your place is prison!”.

The poll, released this Saturday and developed by Ipec, gave Da Silva victory with 51 percent of the vote, a result that would be enough to avoid having to go to a second round. Instead, Bolsonaro would only get 37 percent of that, while Simone Tebet and Ciro Games would be even with 5 percent of the support.

More than 156 million Brazilians are called to the polls this Sunday, October 2nd, where, in addition to appointing the new President of the Republic, they must also elect the rulers of the 27 states, as well as the total renovation of the Chamber of Deputies, a part of the Senate and the representatives of the legislative Landtag.
