Boxer-turned social media star Jake Paul finally answered calls that he faces a “real life boxer” on Sunday, fighting Tommy Fury in an eight-round cruiserweight bout. While Paul put up a solid fight, he came up short as Fury managed to escape with a split decision win.
The fight was tough, with tons of clinching and questionable tactics. That led to the referee first taking a point from Paul and later doing the same to Fury. As Fury appeared to have done the better job to have a slight advantage in the final lap, a left hand from Paul stumbled over Fury, causing him to touch the canvas for a late knockdown.
Despite the knockdown, Fury was able to close strongly and exit the tournament with a two-card decision of 76-73 going his way with a lone deviating card of 75-74 for Paul.
