Things aren't going particularly well for the Calgary Flames this season, but news of Jakob Pelletier's return to action came like a breath of fresh air on Monday.
The Alberta team said it had traded the Quebec forward to the Calgary Wranglers. The 22-year-old will return to form in the American League and could then be recalled by the big club.

Pelletier was injured during the preseason meeting on September 25 and had to undergo shoulder surgery. His name was placed on the long-term absentee list. He fell victim to a questionable check from Seattle Kraken player Marian Studenic that pushed him headfirst into the boards.
Logically, Pelletier should have started the season after making his debut last season with the Flames. The Quebec native played 24 games in the National Hockey League in 2022-2023, collecting seven points.
The small forward was a first-round pick (26th overall) in 2019 and has 99 points in 101 career games in the American League.
