James Bond star Sue Vanner, 71, hires King Charles’ divorce attorney after split from property magnate

James Bond star Sue Vanner has finally filed for divorce after real estate magnate husband Warren Todd, 32, left her in 2019 for a younger woman.

The 71-year-old actress rose to fame opposite Sir Roger Moore in 1977’s The Spy Who Loved Me, where she and secret agent James Bond memorably made love under a pile of fur coats.

Despite describing herself as a “fighter”, she told the Chron’s Richard Eden that she found the breakdown of her marriage “really hard”.

She has now hired Payne Hicks Beach, the law firm whose partner is Baroness Shackleton, who has represented both King Charles and Paul McCartney in their high-profile divorces.

Todd, stepson of reality star Lisa Vanderpump, 62, left his wife with whom he shares a son to begin a relationship with his pregnant girlfriend, while friends described the actress as having a “serious midlife crisis”.

A friend of the Bond girl told Richard Eden in 2019: “Sue is devastated. After 32 years of happily married, Warren made decisions during a very serious midlife crisis that broke her family apart.”

Sue appeared on ITV’s Lorraine in 2019 and shared how she found solace in music following their bitter breakup.

Lorraine said: “It’s a sad reason for you to get back into the music business… 32 years and he’s ditched with someone else and it’s really hard.”

Susie replied, “It’s really hard, but I’m a fighter, so I’ve decided to get back to my music.”

Lorraine continued, “So instead of sitting in the corner crying because your husband ran off with someone younger and they have a baby now, I think…”

They’re different, there’s more special effects, they’re less ironic,” she said. “But I think they’re fantastic. It goes with the times.

An injured Susie joked: “Actually not much younger, but whatever.”

Lorraine scoffed, “That’s almost worse. I know we laugh about it, but it’s really hard.”

After an awkward moment, the conversation then turned to Bond where Susie compared today’s Bond to when she was in the franchise.

“They’re different, there’s more special effects, they’re less ironic,” she said. “But I think they’re fantastic. It goes with the times.”

It is believed Warren now lives in a smaller property around the corner with his new girlfriend, who is believed to be Eastern European.

His mistress, believed to be in her thirties, is a stylish dresser who has been regularly spotted with Warren at trendy restaurants around the capital.

Warren’s stepmother, US TV star Lisa, previously admitted that the couple’s 16-year age difference initially worried her and his father Ken Todd.

Lisa said: “When Warren first met Sue, the age difference, the secrecy that had emerged, wasn’t something we supported.

“But I learned a very valuable lesson — when our children make a choice, remember that our opinions and influence are pretty much superfluous.”

She added that after a few years we would have to admit we were wrong.
