James Buckley has hit back at trolls who accused him of having “turkey teeth”.
The Inbetweeners actor, 36, was left injured after being bombarded with cruel taunts for his smile when he uploaded a photo with footballer Jill Scott to Instagram earlier this week.
Speaking to his wife Clair on their podcast In Sickness and In Health, James revealed that his teeth are his own after wearing braces for five years.
James said: “I posted a picture with Jill Scott on Instagram to make it look like I have an interesting life and will just never smile again.”
“It was always “turkey teeth.” I have no problem with people getting veneers, but the turkey teeth thing has a bad connotation. It’s that gum guard look.”

James continued: “My teeth are my teeth.” I’ve never had a cavity. I have never had surgery on my teeth. They are sparkling clean. I wore braces for almost five years. It hurt my tongue.’
Clair sympathized: “You’ve gone to so much trouble to get these really nice white, straight teeth, and people think they’re fake.”
James said, “If they were fake.” The thing about Turkey’s false teeth is as if they were bad teeth. I cared about my teeth and was obsessed with them.
“I deleted so many comments that it just got on my nerves. I think I have pretty nice teeth now. “I used to have Austin Power-type teeth.”
It comes after Clair revealed she liked James when he starred in The Inbetweeners, even telling her then-boyfriend: “That little blonde is cute.”
Clair, 36, read out a question from a fan who asked if she was attracted to James, also 36, when he starred in The Inbetweeners.
She replied: “Yes, I was, and I actually have a funny story about it… I lived in a shared apartment and there were a lot of young people there, and I had a boyfriend at the time and The Inbetweeners.” was posted on.
“He saw it and I didn’t really see it; I wasn’t aware of it, I didn’t know what it was.’

Clair continued, “He laughed and said to me, ‘You should watch this, it’s funny, you’ll like it.’ And I thought, ‘Oh, all right, okay.’
“So I watched a little bit of it. Whether you believe me or not, that is the honest truth of God. I swear on the lives of my two children. I remember saying to him, “This is stupid. This is so stupid. That’s not funny.”
James, jokingly offended, interjected, “All right!”, drawing laughter from the people working on the podcast.
Clair continued, “But I said, ‘The little blonde is cute.'” To which James proudly said, “Yes.” And Clair said, “Indeed.”
“Even though I didn’t know who James was, I remember it. I remember seeing him and thinking, “Oh, he’s quite nice.”‘
